Curators statement:

"5.7": Honoring the Sculptors Guild Legacy at the Smithsonian

This year's show, titled "5.7," takes its name from the 5.7 linear feet of archival microfilm about the Sculptors Guild, housed at the Smithsonian Museum.

These priceless documents chronicle the Guild’s vibrant history from its founding in 1937 through 1979, offering a rich glimpse into the evolution of American sculpture during that period.

As the curator for both last year’s and this year’s exhibitions, I am dedicated to deepening the connection between the Guild’s past and present. By adding new materials to the Smithsonian arch

celebrate the legacy of the Sculptors Guild. This archival journey not only honors the artists who shaped the medium but also inspires new generations of sculptors and art lovers alike.

Through "5.7," visitors are invited to explore a unique chapter of art history, bridging the past with the ongoing creative spirit of the Guild today.
