Kathleen Vance
Kathleen Vance was born in rural Maryland, outside of Baltimore in 1977. She moved to New York in 1995 to attend Pratt Institute of Art and received her B.F.A. for sculpture in 1999. After receiving a Haskel travel grant, Kathleen spent over month in Iceland researching the geothermal regions of the area. In 2003 she received a grant from the Brooklyn Arts council, in conjunction with the Cyprus Hill Development Corporation, which aided the development and implementation of an outdoor community based art project in East New York. In 2005 Kathleen received a grant to participate in ‘Emerge 7’, an artist development program organized by Aljira, Center for Contemporary Art, in conjunction with Creative Capital Foundation; the same year she was accepted into the Sculptors guild. In 2006 Kathleen Vance completed her Masters of Fine Arts degree in sculpture from Hunter College’s Studio Art program.
Her work has been exhibited in numerous venues throughout New York and surrounding areas. Kathleen continues to live and work in Brooklyn, New York.
