Masami Kodama
Masami Kodama takes most of his subjects from the world of geometry. Circles, spheres, oblongs and squares are some of his favorite protagonists. He has brought from his native Japan that country’s age old old tradition of technical excellence. Everyone of his sculptures is executed with consummate mastery. He opposes curved shapes to angular ones and resolves their opposition in perfect balance.
Some of his sculptures have, in spite of their relatively small scale, a monumentality and reflect an atmosphere of rest; others suggest movement and change - long forgotten metaphors of being and becoming. Kodama is a part of geometry.
